Retention and Safeguards

Retention is purpose-bound: analytics records expire on their provider’s cycle, mailing-list entries persist only while you remain subscribed, and comment data stays as long as the comment does. We restrict who can reach the data, serve the site over encrypted connections, and apply safeguards proportionate to the (limited) sensitivity of what we hold — no system is completely secure.

Processing Purposes

The information is used to keep the site working, to understand which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages are actually read, to send the newsletter to people who asked for it, and — where advertising is served — to support that advertising.

Age Restrictions

Nothing here is directed at children. The site assumes an adult reader, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (16 where required), and any such data discovered is deleted promptly.

What We Collect

When you read skinflyer.com, our host and any analytics provider we use may log technical details of the request — IP address, user agent, referring URL, pages and timestamps. Separately, you may choose to give us an email address, post a comment, or write to us, and that information is collected too. Given what we write about, this is worth being explicit about: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.

If You Subscribe

The newsletter is confirmed opt-in: you enter an address, we email to check it was really you, and only then are you added. Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and our postal address. Leaving is immediate and permanent.

Control You Have

Depending where you live, you may have the right to see what we hold, correct it, have it deleted, take a copy elsewhere, object to certain processing, or opt out of your data being sold or shared for advertising. That covers readers under the UK and EU GDPR and under US state laws including the CCPA/CPRA. We honour Global Privacy Control signals automatically.
